As an author, I’m always thinking of the setting, characters, and details of the world I’ve created for each book. I hope you’ve looked over the short story I’ve offered, The Bride Wore White. (Just sign up with the sign in on the bottom of the shelleysommers.com home page. You’ll receive the story immediately.) I’ve been so immersed in the Louisa’s Vineyard series’ world that it was fun to take a short break and create another environment with other parameters and locations and new characters. The Bride Wore White. The idea popped in my head one day about a nurse and her patient, then wouldn’t let go until I’d written the short story.

In my recent trip to Europe, I researched what it might be like for my series’ main character, Louisa, to spend time as an intern working in a Bordeaux vineyard during a later book I’ll be writing. The world I conjured up differed from what I initially imagined the internship location might be. I can’t wait to write the next books!

wine glass separatorThis week, I have the great pleasure of introducing my guest blogger, Nicole LaBrocca, who will tell you about the world she’s created in her new book, Shadows of the Moon, in our next blog in two weeks. Her world is quite different from the contemporary, steamy romances I write. She’s created a fantasy world with varied–both human and non-human–characters and a very different vibe.

Nicole La BroccaNicole LaBrocca shares a major characteristic with me. We both keep a pen and pad by our bed so that when inspiration comes calling, we can save the ideas our busy brains conjure up to incorporate the ideas into our work. Nicole ventures into enchanting new territories with her spellbinding tales of romantic fantasy. She invites readers on an exhilarating odyssey through a realm where steamy passion intertwines with suspenseful supernatural intrigue, all seasoned with a sprinkle of humor. Be prepared for an immersive journey where love ignites amidst swirling mysteries and hidden truths. Step into a world where every page holds the promise of an unforgettable escape.

Shadows of the MoonWith a usurper king threatening the realm, Ana must navigate complex politics and battle fearsome foes.
