Dear Friend,
One of the finest things you own is your imagination. It doesn’t need to be taxed, or shared. It doesn’t have an expiration date. But it can include limitless options.
What I love about having an imagination is that it can expand to any dimension, any time period, and include any characters or people you wish!
As an adult, one of the few professions where a person can indulge in using their imagination, without being considered insane, is in being an author. Authors may seem touched by madness. Sometimes, they may appear to be the only sane person in a room.
Using imagination can be magical!
An example: Think of being outside on a hot day. Now imagine an ice cream truck parked nearby. You wait your turn, and finally you picture a large ice cream cone with your favorite flavors perched on the cone. The ice cream is melting, but you lick it quickly before it melts away. The taste is cool, creamy, fruity, chocolatey, and refreshing.
You feel cooler, just thinking of what you imagineꟷa cool treat that helps you feel refreshed and comfortable.
Conjuring up sweet, cold, creamy ice cream can change how you feel.
Your imagination can take you anywhere! When I imagine a relaxing place that can help me drift off to sleep quickly, I picture a place that no longer exists. It’s a deserted beach with palm trees and pristine water so clear that when you swim, you see your shadow below. The beach I imagine has become the location for several giant resort hotels. In my mind, it’s still there, pristine and nearly deserted!
In my next book, I’m conjuring Randy, Louisa’s brother, as older and ready to go off to college. He’s matured and become a “charmer” to quote his second mom. Randy is enjoying life and, so I don’t hit you with a spoiler, I’ll let you imagine scenarios Randy might be in for this older reality.
