Dear Friend,
Did I catch you in the middle of something? Sorry if I interrupted you, but sometimes that happens.
I’ve been trying to finish my newest book, Randy’s Dilemma, but have constant interruptions from. . . my spouse, who is also an author working from his home office. I try not to interrupt him, but sometimes I must. He’s the technology person, while I’m the editorial person. Burning questions, you know!
Now, as soon as I finish writing this blog, I’ll be really happy because I can’t wait to finish the next segment of my book. Getting close!
I can almost taste it, the feeling of elation when the last words are on the page. But, you know, the last words cannot be “The End.” Then the publishers know you’re finished and the fun things that come after the main book may not get included, like the Epilogue, recipes, Acknowledgments, and About the Author.
Before I became an author, I set a deadline for myself and would continue whatever I was trying to accomplish until I completed it. One night during high school, I underestimated how long it would take to write a modernized version of a Shakespearean play, Julius Caesar. It took a while to convert 16th Century language to modern English, complete with slang. Before I fell asleep in my chair, I finished. . . “The End,” two of the sweetest words when you’re up against a deadline. I think it was around 2 a.m. when I landed in bed.
So, without further ado, (Or “Much Ado About Nothing,” another Shakespearean effort.) I bid you farewell. . . until next time. I hope to proclaim in my next blog that Randy’s Dilemma has been resolved–or at least the writing of it. Next stop, editing, proofing, formatting, etc.
