Dear Friend,

Besides the way the song ends with─ “You,” I’ve thought of priceless experiences and have them on repeat in my memories.

My family background jumbled up the holidays so we celebrated twice. We lit Chanukah candles. But we also put up stockings on Christmas Eve. I enjoyed the stocking stuffers most because they were creative and personal. I loved the homemade cookies, the jar of cashews, the small hairbrush, and the orange I’d find in the toe of the stocking the next morning. The homemade gifts were the best. One holiday, my gift to family who wore glasses was needlepoint eyeglass cases, which looked like eye charts.

Christmas and Hanukkah

These days, I celebrate a pared-down holiday season. Since the kids are grown up, my husband and I do what we want, eat what we wish, and usually go for a walk. But the song is right. All I really want for Christmas is, “you”- my husband. I’m lucky that I found the right person to marry.

My books reflect the happiness I feel in this marriage. The books also reflect an occasional sense of something that might happen, the “paranormal” element that Louisa and her mother share. When I call close friends, they’ll comment that they were just thinking of me. Spooky, but fun!

I love the connections and enjoy including them in my books. This season, if you haven’t already read some of my Louisa’s Vineyard Series, I invite you to visit my website. See – Shelleysommers.com for more info and links to where you can purchase the books.

However you spend your holidays, I hope you enjoy them!
