Dear Friend –
If you’ve ever looked up at the night sky and seen stars, the moon, and shooting stars, you may have wondered where you, a human, stand in the universe. I know I have.
The city I live in adheres to the dark night sky rules, so we’re fortunate to see stars clearly. It was a mystical experience connecting with the universe and realizing there were larger worlds than ours, and possibly other creatures out in the vastness.
Perhaps that makes the science fiction of Star Wars and Star Trek so alluring. I admire Gene Roddenberry for inspiring the many variations of Star Trek. I don’t feel the gravitas of “boldly going” when I’m traveling to another place on earth.

Simple questions, such as:
How much does the earth weigh?
How fast does the earth rotate?
And the question for romance – If love makes the world go ‘round, why don’t we feel it?
I found an online source to answer the questions, but let’s focus on love, and how it makes the world go ’round.
When a character exists in a romance story, it’s as if they were dormant, living their life, but suddenly awakened to the greater joy of sharing a life with someone else. They may struggle to get to their relationship, but the Happy-Ever-After is the reward I provide all of my readers.
As an adult, I’ve been able to incorporate dreams, fantasies, and real life into my romance writing. I love having my characters reach an exciting feeling of connection where sex is a glorious partnership. It makes them more productive, more creative, and happier in life.
And, metaphorically, love makes their worlds go ‘round. It allows them to enjoy the wonder of the world.
Now the answers to those questions: (Click here for more about earth.)
- Why don’t we feel the earth moving?
It’s like being in a car that stops quickly. We only feel movement when things change, like when you slam on the brakes. It is our visceral sensations that let us feel the movement.
- How heavy is earth?
Earth weighs 1317lbs with 22 zeroes added after. Now, you don’t feel so heavy, right?
- Since the earth also rotates around the sun, why don’t we feel the movement?
Earth moves, at the equator, about 1,000 mph. (At the poles near zero mph.) Gravity keeps us tethered to the earth. The earth travels 67,000 mph as it rotates around the sun.
- Romance and the wonder of sharing a world with someone?
