Last night, I went to bed very late after spending most of the day trying to submit my files for my new book, Love at First Sight, to both Amazon and Draft 2 Digital. Not successful after many tries when my files didn’t seem to work for them, I went to bed not just discouraged, but steaming mad!
At least Amazon didn’t seem to like my wonderful fonts that I’ve used in all three of my other books- with no problem!
Today, I resigned myself to another day fighting the giants. I want to give credit to my two wonderful partners, Gin, who creates my covers, and Joanna, who formats my books. They have stuck with me trying to figure out what we needed to do to fix it. What they gave me worked for the ebook in D2D, but not for Amazon.
Funny thing, the tiny-sized thumbnail image of my cover on Amazon showed that they have my cover, which, even tiny, looked great. (Which they said wasn’t working.)
Since I wrote this, things got worse, but they’ll be better soon! I received word that my Amazon print book is working its way through their printing process. Within a few hours, you may be able to order a print book! So I’m actually close to being launched.
(D2D wound up losing the entire information for the epub. Now I must start submitting files and information again from scratch!)
If anyone thinks that writing is a long and arduous process, the self-publishing submittal process is worse!
PS I wound up speaking with a kind customer agent for Amazon who cleared up a lot of my questions.
For instance: If any of you have received a print book that was damaged or very lightly printed, you can contact them online (find where you ask about items delivered damaged) and they will send you a QR code so you can send the book back to them for free. They’ll replace the damaged book (for free).
Good news!
PPS Keep checking and you’ll see when Love at First Sight is available online. Either Amazon or Draft2Digitial. I’ll keep you posted on what’s happening. And, next week, I become your foreign correspondent!
