Dear Friend,

For every person, every culture, every celebration, food has meaning beyond the ingredients that comprise the dish.

In my world, my ingredients inspire me and determine what I’ll be cooking. Tonight, it’s a chicken with garlic butter recipe I found online on Simply Recipes. (I don’t take credit for recipes I haven’t invented myself. No plagiarism here!) The recipe is simple and sounds delicious. For a weeknight with deadlines and work piling up, it’s wonderful.

With my characters, Louisa and Will, food is love. Her grandmother said so. (See Love at First Sight to meet Louisa’s grandmother.) To a great extent, food is love for me, too. But even more so when the food is for a special occasion.

Since I just put the finishing touches on the manuscript of The Greatest Thing, Book 4A toast to our new book! of my Louisa’s Vineyard series, I absolutely feel like celebrating!

To share a piece of what’s happening, I’m showing you my-almost complete-cover. For a little context, Will and Louisa have been going through some difficult experiences. Since Louisa loves the outdoors, Will treats her to an afternoon rowboat ride on a lake.

Assuming you took a look at the cover, what did you think? (Please provide feedback in the box below. I really want to know what you think!)

Enjoy the recipe, the glimpse of the new book cover, and, perhaps,

Love at First Sight in reality or in the book.

Happy eating and happy reading,

Shelley Sommers

PS I tried the recipe. It tasted great, but if you decide to make the recipe yourself, I recommend additional time in the oven. (Maybe 10 more minutes, but make sure the chicken and the potatoes are completely cooked.)
