Dear Friend,
Earlier today, my husband and I had just returned from various errands and appointments. We were finally settling into our offices to work and, suddenly, my computer and the air conditioner simultaneously shut down!
I hustled outside to open the box where the electricity is located─and nothing! The house was still. No noise. It was eerie. Early evening, with light entering the house, things didn’t seem too ominous.
But we live in Arizona. We keep our thermostat at 80 degrees. And the day was hotter than that. When we first lived in this home, in the city in which we are located, we had several complete power losses. Often it was just neighborhoods, but sometimes the entire city shut down.

As a local reporter, I found out that the power company did not have “redundancy.” If one power pole was down, it could take out the whole electrical grid. It took a few years to remedy the situation, with backups available to take over when one area lost its connection.
You don’t realize how spoiled our society is with electricity available at the flick of a switch! For people who don’t have electricity, or running water, or all of our modern conveniences, it’s a major effort to have safe water to drink, and food to eat. I’ve gone camping, but that’s not how I envision my life.
And exactly how does this relate to romance? After all, I’m in the world of romance as I write. I create the world; and the world isn’t always perfect.
Instead of being concerned about food, water, air, and shelter in romance land, relationships are the important value.
Liken Louisa Dominico Watson to a power source, the Electricity! for the people of her world. Her friends, neighbors, and acquaintances look to her to inform, assist, and save them! If you’ve read books in my Louisa’s Vineyard Series, you’ve noticed that Louisa is the center of that universe. She makes the world go ‘round. She inspires everyone!
Her husband, Will, claims he couldn’t live without her! Everyone relies on her.
And, somehow, at the ripe old age of eighteen, Louisa is wise beyond her years. She’s learned from tragedy, responsibility, and a multitude of experiences to be resourceful, compassionate, loving, and silly–when required.
I invite you to share some time with Louisa, her family, and friends. I’ve been told by some readers that she makes them smile.
Start with Louisa’s debut in Louisa’s Passion. If you’ve already met Louisa in that book, move on to Will’s Secret and get to know Will as well. He’s the swoon-worthy person with a personality to match.
